The Pilgrimage of Peace

Courage it is I. Do not be afraid

In Easter Week all fifty Redemptoris Mater diocesan missionary seminaries around the world go on a pilgrimage of thanksgiving to express their gratitude to the risen Lord, Jesus Christ. This year Bishop Christopher Saunders invited the seminarians of Redemptoris Mater Sydney and Perth to come to Broome.
Twenty-five students together with priests from the seminaries visited homes and sang hymns in the streets of Broome. They prayed with people and conducted services in the Cathedral, at the University of Notre Dame, and in parks of the bay-side town. Broome people opened their homes as hosts to the welcome visitors. Among other joyous events a Saturday Vigil Mass, in the manner of the Neo-Catechumenate, was celebrated at Our Lady Queen of Peace Cathedral and was well attended.
The overwhelming feeling is that the Pilgrimage of Peace has had a memorable effect in the life of each person touched by it.
Bishop Saunders of Broome said that the celebration of Easter was a remarkable remembrance this year. "The Joy of the Easter story has been profoundly proclaimed in our streets and in our homes by these young men. Their enthusiasm has been appreciated by everyone. Their prayerfulness has been a gift to us. This has truly been a Pilgrimage of Peace and I am grateful to the Neo-Catechumenate Way for their generous act of sharing Christ's Good News of Life with us".
