Concerns for exploitation of Peninsula

In a recent radio interview Caroline Sibosado, on behalf of Lombadina Community on the Dampier Peninsula, raised a concern that there has been inadequate Government consultations on the proposed gas developments in the area. “People don’t understand what it’s all about’, she said. Meanwhile State Government Minister Alanna MacTiernan has awarded contracts to seal 43 kilometres of the Dampier Peninsula road and Caroline says that more rangers are needed to cope with a guaranteed tourist influx. The issue is that increasing tourist numbers will impact on communities and the environment. Rangers are needed to protect people and places from care-less exploitation.
