A memorable 60 years

Sr Philomena Hockings (right) and Sr Veronica McCarthy, of the Sisters of St John of God, recently celebrated 60 years since the date of their arrival in the Kimberley. The Sisters well remember their journey on Sunday 29 May 1949, when they travelled from Perth to Broome in a DC3 on the ‘Milk Run’; a journey taking an amazing 10 hours, stopping off at every little airstrip along the way. We are grateful to Sr Philomena and Sr Veronica for their wonderful contribution to the Church and people of the Kimberley and we thank them for their generosity.
