A lot of prior preparation went into the Assumption Day festivities at Kalumburu. Guitarist Danny Ambi made his usual helpful contribution to the success of the Feast Day, 15 August.

Sing to Yahweh, sing to the music of harps,
and to the sound of many instruments;
to the sound of trumpet and horn
acclaim Yahweh the King!

25 years of Catholic Education at Balgo

Luurnpa Catholic School in Balgo recently celebrated twenty five years of Catholic Education under the guidance of the De La Salle Brothers who have supplied three principals during that quarter of a century of excellence in education. The first principal, Br Leo who served there for 16 years, was followed by Br Bernie and the incumbent, Br Rick.

It was a wonderful day of celebrations – a Mass to mark the occasion followed by dancing and singing, engaging speeches and a fine feast. Attending the celebrations were past principals and past parish priests of Balgo. Fr Ray Hevern SAC, who’d been there for nearly eighteen years returned to enjoy the celebrations over a two day period; Fr Matt Digges, now in Broome who served in Balgo for seven years also enjoyed his brief stay. Many other visitors flew in for the occasion. Everyone agrees it was a wonderful remembrance. Bishop Christopher Saunders was the principal celebrant of the Mass, assisted by the other priests including the present Parish Priest, Fr Eugene Zurias-Diaz. 11.09.2009
