New Caring for the Homeless facility

The expansion of the number of people who are homeless in Broome in recent years has necessitated the construction of a centre that will provide meals and the opportunity to shower and clean up after roughing it around town. With homeless numbers on the rise, and predicted to surpass earlier estimates, the Centre will have plenty to do. Funded by the Catholic Church, Lotteries Commission of WA, and Indigenous Coordination Centre and a number of benefactors including Boral Australia Gypsum, AWM Electrical, M Smart, P & J Walton, Full Boar, Maclean and Lawrence, Ralph Unger, S Stone Engineering and Engawa Architects. The Centre is due to open in May this year.
